Sad milestone: Jimi Hendrix Experience, RIP

I’m saddened and honored that I’ve now buried two-thirds of the Jimi Hendrix Experience — who, with the passing of drummer Mitch Mitchell on Wednesday, are now extinct. (That’s my unbylined Noel Redding obit from 2003.) I think of a Simpsons gag from way back with Jimi and Bach up in the clouds playing air hockey. “That’s game, Hendrix!” Bach says. ... and I mean that in the most hallelujah-the-boys-are-up-in-heaven kind of way. Jimi Hendrix (1942-1970), Noel Redding (1945-2003) and Mitch Mitchell (1946-2008), RIP.
