Negative-one-year Watchmen anniversary

The Watchmen movie, literally two decades in development, opens a year from today, and the film’s official blog has posted the following portraits of the main characters. They look ... good, I guess. They just remind me a little too much of Val Kilmer as Batman.

No matter how cool colored-latex-clad grown-ups looked within illustrated panels to a 12-yr-old, they're bound to look a little disappointing and silly in person... to a 33-yr-old.

i think matthew goode is way to wimpy to be playing ozymandias; he's not physically imposing enough. the others look pretty good though, especially rorshach and the comedian.

and somebody please get us a pic of what dr. manhattan looks like so i can stop worrying.

They definitely look a little tricked out, especially Nite Owl. One of the coolest things about Nite Owl was how he was out of shape! This movie is by the guy who did 300, which featured digital six-pack muscles 'cuz they couldn't get ripped enough dudes to play Spartans.

Rorschach looks pretty dead-on. So does Comedian, actually. The others just scream "big-screen comic book adapation" to me.

@jesse i was thinking the same thing. i was kind of assuming (and hoping) that this shot was of him back in the day when he was young and still a badass.
